Course Objectives
To develop appropriate skills in mining and utilization of production records for the assessment of herd level management and health problems. Evaluation and comparison of widely used software encounterd in animal agriculture. To develop skill in the manipulation of data and its presentation in formats appropriate to the repective industries.
Topical Outline
1) Develop competency in using species specific software such as Cow/Calf, PC Dart, or PigCHAMP. 2) Within software limitations, develop competency in extrating and exporting data. 3) Development of working tools such as macros. 4) Fundamentals of database management. 5) Using epidemiological and statistical tools, develop core competencies in answering health and production concerns.
