Course Description
Review of historical and contemporary educational philosophies in light of their impact on the structure and practice of education and work. Discussion of personal, professional philosophy statements that address the interaction of philosophy and practice in education and work, including six philosophical camps, classical philosophers, contemporary issues such as economy and labor, and globalization issues. Identification of educational philosophies that underlie various views about education and work.

Course Objectives
1. Review prominent historical and contemporary educational philosophies in light of their impact on the structure and practice of education and work. 2. Explain the economic, social, and political conditions that have impacted upon education and work. 3. Compare various philosophical camps that have been used for education and work throughout history. 4. Provide examples of the interaction of philosophy and practice in education and work. 5. Develop a personal, professional philosophy statement for workforce education.
