Course Objectives

Students will leave the course with: 1. Rudimentary knowledge of the following aspects of a body training system whose aims and benefits are of potential value to the dancer: a. historical origins of the system b. contexts in which the system has been used c. physical and psychological characteristics which the system shares with a range of dance training systems 2. Personal experience of the physical and psychological regimen defining the particular body training system 3. Experience in verbally and manually assisting classmates in their practice of the regiment defining the particular body training system 4. Personal experience in attempting to apply to one’s current dance career the central principles of the training system, and in evaluating the degree to which such application is beneficial 5. Experience in presenting to the class - orally and with execution of movement material - demonstrations of how training in the movement system complements the training of a dancer
