Professional Horticulture Practices


Course Description

Overview of professional horticultural practices such as crop planning, bidding, contract supervision, budgeting, and record keeping.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Students taking this course for graduate credit will either construct a comprehensive business plan for a business of their choosing (existing or a business they plan to start) or conduct a comprehensive industry survey on a professional topic (e.g., labor supply issues, important worker qualifications, regulatory concerns) and develop an associated report. This will require direct interviews and developing online surveys (Qualtrics), statistically analyzing results, and writing a business-style memo summarizing results.
