Course Description

Laboratory to provide students with hands-on experience with turfgrass management practices and systems. Species selection, establishment, irrigation, mowing, fertilization, cultivation, as well as weed, insect, and disease control.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, students will be able to identify common morphological characteristics of cool- and warm-season turfgrass species.
  • By the end of the course, students will be able to conduct an irrigation uniformity test and irrigation efficiency evaluation along with trouble shooting for system malfunctions.
  • By the end of the course, students will be able to physically calibrate a pesticide sprayer and fertility spreader.
  • By the end of the course, students will be able to conduct a variety of soil sampling procedures and interpret the soil test results.
