Students will analyze rural economic development issues using economic base theory, multipliers, and regional input-output models.
Students will evaluate the effectiveness of various rural development strategies using evidence-based criteria and economic impact metrics.
Students will apply IMPLAN modeling techniques to simulate economic impacts of proposed projects and interpret the results to inform local decision makers.
Students will compare and contrast different rural development strategies like infrastructure investment or workforce development and evaluate the potential economic outcomes.
Students will create and justify a comprehensive rural development plan by integrating quantitative analysis using theory and best practices. They will work in a group setting to analyze a rural development initiative, and the findings of their projects will be presented to the class as part of their final projects. As part of their group project, it is expected that the students will collaborate and navigate interpersonal relationships, utilizing feedback to make revisions and submit an exceptional final project.
