Course Objectives
The main objective is to enjoy the emotional and physical benefits of the group moving rhythmically together in a social atmosphere. The student will also gain an understanding and appreciation of the similarities and differences of a variety of cultures as expressed and experienced through the music and movement handed down to us by these cultures.
Topical Outline
Class will meet two days per week and will consist of a) preparing the body for dancing with a series of warm-up exercises b) learning two to four new dances per class and reviewing dances learned previously c) noting differences of rhythms and expressive emphases of the body in response to culturally diverse music
