Student learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to describe the purpose of evaluation for health promotion, health behavior, and public health interventions.
  • Students will be able to describe the major characteristic of health promotion and public health policy, and select appropriate evaluation objectives.
  • Students will be able to define the role of stakeholders, decision-makers, and target populations in the needs assessment process.
  • Students will be able to describe methods for monitoring program coverage, reach, and fidelity of implementation.
  • Students will be able to identify appropriate strategies for health-related interventions as they related to primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.
  • Students will be able to identify various evaluation designs, their characteristics, strengths, and limitations.
  • Students will be able to choose appropriate data collection methods (qualitative and quantitative) for health-related outcomes.
  • Students will be able to identify strengths and offer constructive criticism on a health promotion program evaluation proposal.
  • Students will be able to choose appropriate statistical methods to assess behavioral health and other health outcomes.
  • Students will be able to identify key issues related to the evaluation of health behavior programs targeting high risk and underserved populations.
  • Students will be able to identify human subject issues, budget requirements, and write a complete proposal for an evaluation of health promotion program.
