Basic Curriculum and Teaching Procedures in School Health Education


Course Description

Curriculum development within the preschool through 12th grade comprehensive school health education program; review of scope and sequence, content, resources, and materials; development of lesson plans including concepts and objectives; examination and application of various teaching methods; utilization of media, community resources, and assessment techniques.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will be required to complete an additional teaching assignment.

Course Objectives

Explain the structure and role of the Coordinated School Health Program. Prepare for the health Education Teacher Certification Test (Praxis II)through the reading of and testing on health content. Analyze the health needs of children and adolescents from which to develop appropriate health education curriculum.
