Pointe I


Course Description

Pointe technique, which is an extension of ballet technique skills, with attention to strengthening pointe and ballet skills, placement, vocabulary, musicality, and stylistic elements. Application of pointe skills in the study of variations from classical ballet repertoire.

  • By the end of this course, students will be able to execute barre exercises, developing strength on pointe, and continue development of ballet technique skills.
  • By the end of this course, students will be able to perform center exercises on pointe, developing coordination and movement quality.
  • By the end of this course, students will be able to review classical ballet vocabulary.
  • By the end of this course, students will be able to explore theory of pointe technique skills that extend from ballet technique including placement, musicality, and stylistic elements.
  • By the end of this course, students will be able to practice class combinations on pointe with correct ballet and pointe technique.
  • By the end of this course, students will be able to introduce study and practice selected variations from the classical ballet repertoire.
