Student learning Outcomes

  • Upon completion of this course, the successful student will be able to analyze and compose music using secondary dominant seventh functions.
  • Upon completion, the successful student will be able to analyze and compose music using modulation.
  • Upon completion, the successful student will be able to analyze and compose music using mode mixture.
  • Upon completion, the successful student will be able to analyze and compose music using Neapolitan 6th and augmented sixth chords.
  • Upon completion, the successful student will be able to identify patterns in simple musical excerpts using roman numerals and appropriate non-harmonic tone designation, drawing on all prior musical instruction including knowledge being learned in other courses such as applied music and class piano, leading to appropriate interpretation of the data.
