Course Description
Introductory course in atmospheric, aquatic, and terrestrial systems emphasizing how technology affects them and how it is used to minimize and correct negative impacts. Introductory topics include population, energy, natural, and human-induced environmental disturbances. Detailed coverage of technologies associated with water quality and quantity, air quality, and solid and hazardous wastes.

Course Objectives
To provide students with a broad introduction to the technologies associated with environmental problems and solutions, and principles of environmental assessment and management. After successful completion of this course the student should: 1. Understand how technology can both positively and negatively impact the environment. 2. Understand and describe basic technologies associated with water, air, and solid wastes. 3. Propose methods by which technologies can be modified/applied to minimize/correct existing/future environmental problems.
