Course Description
Selected readings of Chinese literature and literary criticism in the original language. Texts of various genres and from different periods of the Chinese literary tradition will be read and discussed in Chinese.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
An additional, substantive research paper on an approved topic
written in Chinese, and a presentation in Chinese of the
research. More substantive readings in literary Chinese
materials.

Course Objectives
To enhance the ability of the students to read, speak, write, and exchange ideas on Chinese literature and literary criticism at an advanced level. Students will be trained to handle authentic texts in the original and to do research on/with primary materials.

Syllabus
