Middle East Music Ensemble


Course Description

The Middle East Music Ensemble is a non-auditioned group that serves as a forum for research and performance, featuring a variety of music from Southwest Asia and North Africa. Students receive instruction on melodic and rhythmic modes, instrumentation, and performance practices of the region and will be expected to participate in public performances.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Students will engage with the theoretical and conceptual frameworks of the repertoire, including musical notation. Students will have opportunities to perform solo repertoire in addition to ensemble work.
