Course Description

Basic introduction to administrative law and the role of regulatory and other administrative agencies in the governing process. The primary focus will be on United States administrative law, but systems in other countries will be discussed as well.

Course Objectives

Students should develop an understanding of the basic function of administrative law in a governmental system, a familarity with the historical development of American administrative law, and knowledge of important doctrines in the American context including the Administrative Procedures Act, judicial review of agency action, and agency delegation and discretion.
