Course Description

Designed to give students an opportunity to participate in a symphonic ensemble.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will: * conduct necessary research and prepare moderately extensive program notes for compositions performed in concert * submit a critical essay on the musical style of a selected composer whose work appears on the concert program.

Non-Traditional Format

Rehearsal setting. Open to undergraduate and graduate non-music majors. Music majors and minors may enroll with permission of the instructor. No audition required for string players; audition required for woodwind, brass, and percussion players. One public performance each semester.
