Course Objectives

The student will be able to: 1. Identify basic skills of golf, softball, field events, and floor/field hockey and create developmentally appropriate learning sequences. 2. Implement, modify and use strategies for class management related to teaching striking/target activities, as categorized by the Teaching Games for Understanding approach, in programs of physical education. 3. Explain and demonstrate the ability to apply rules of striking/target activities. 4. Demonstrate organizational skills and strategies necessary for teaching striking/target activities in K-12 physical education programs. 5. Adapt to alternative teaching methods and environments to meet the needs of diverse students. 6. Utilize verbal feedback as a motivational technique. 7. Demonstrate skill in using a variety of assessment techniques appropriate for measuring student learning. 8. Demonstrate basic skills for golf, softball, field events, and floor/field hockey. 9. Apply knowledge of golf, softball, field events and floor/field hockey to game situations.
