Students will be able to identify arguments in texts written by a philosopher of the ancient Western tradition.
Students will be able to present arguments made by philosophers of the ancient Western tradition as numbered premises, conclusions, and sub-arguments.
Students will be able to critically assess the soundness of arguments made by made by philosophers of the ancient Western tradition and defend their assessments in writing.
Topical Outline
This course focuses on various works of major ancient western philosophers, such as
Plato and Aristotle. Within the confines of these works, topics and questions in
these areas may be covered, such as:
