Outdoor Adventure Activities


Course Description

Activities include hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, caving, rafting, sailing, mountain biking, horseback riding, backpacking, snorkeling, and snow skiing.

Participation in 30 hours of adventure activities and instruction offered by the University of Georgia's Georgia Outdoor Recreation Program (GORP), Department of Recreational Sports.

Course Objectives

•Students will demonstrate a basic knowledge of the fundamental skills and strategy of outdoor activities •Students will gain an appreciation for outdoor activities as a way to exercise and improve overall health in life •Students will understand the importance of physical activity as it relates to a healthy lifestyle •Students will demonstrate their knowledge of health related fitness topics such as aerobic fitness, muscle strength and endurance, flexibility, nutrition, and behavior modification.
