Course Description
Study of a wide variety of research methods and styles used by students of political phenomena, concentrating on those approaches that are essentially non-quantitative in orientation. A variety of approaches, some positivist in orientation, some non-positivist, but all involving an empirical emphasis will be covered.

Course Objectives
Students will become acquainted with the opportunities, problems, and advantages offered by alternative research designs. Students will learn which methods are appropriate to their research programs. Students will obtain practical experience with data collection and analysis appropriate to qualitative analysis.
