Course Objectives
The course will provide students with indepth and integrative studies of various aspects of Yoruba linguistics or the literatures or cultures of Yoruba speaking people in West Africa and/or the Americas.
Topical Outline
This will vary depending on topic of seminar. Sample topic: Development of Yoruba writing system An examination of the historical and structural development of the Yoruba language. The development and changes to the orthography Yoruba orthography and modern technology Old Yoruba to the contemporary Grammar; reading, translation,and linguistic analysis of selected texts; overview of the dialectal variations in Yoruba orthography.
