Course Description
Continuation of the language, including grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structures. Emphasis on the ability to engage in reasonable fluent discourse in Amharic and a comprehensive knowledge of formal grammar, and the ability to read Amharic with a high level of complex grammatical structures and cultural knowledge.

Course Objectives
By the end of the semester, students will be expected to have achieved mid-high level competence in the language to be able to sustain conversation with a native speaker with no or limited difficulty, be able to read text in Amharic from different genres, and to use sophisticated grammar and vocabulary items in their writing and discourse. A comprehensive knowledge of formal language and culture is expected grammar. These abilities would translate, at the end of this course, to an intermediate high proficiency level.
