Student Learning Outcomes
Students will learn basic biochemical engineering concepts.
Students will learn about biochemical engineering processes, including process flow sheets, process units, and their functions.
Students will understand the stepwise methodology to solve material balance problems.
Students will understand degree of freedom analysis for solving material balance problems.
Students will be able to solve material balance problems in biochemical engineering process for single and multiple process units.
Students will be able to solve energy balance problems with and without a chemical reaction.
Students will understand the basics of biochemical process design.
Students will generate process flow sheets for a given biochemical engineering design process.
Students will understand the importance of ethics, code, and safety in engineering design.
Students will learn concepts related to feasibility and economic evaluation of design.
Students will develop the ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering design and analysis problems.
Students will apply the concepts learned to design a biochemical engineering process in the course project.
