Course Objectives
1. Analyze historical and contemporary theories of leadership development and their relationship to workforce education programs. 2. Differentiate between leadership and management. 3. Describe the characteristics, tasks, attributes, and best practices of effective leaders for the student population in workforce education programs. 4. Describe the shift in leadership paradigms from the 20th to the 21st Century. 5. Use a variety of assessment instruments to identify individual leadership strengths and areas for personal and professional development and improvement. 6. Utilize change theory to plan for change in workforce education programs. 7. Evaluate use and misuse of power in educational leadership in workforce education programs. 8. Identify strategies for increasing participation of women and minorities as leaders in workforce programs. 9. Formulate a philosophy of leadership to guide workforce education programs at the local, state, and/or national level into the 21st Century. 10. Explain the application of multiple intelligences to leadership practices. 11. Contribute to the theory and practice of effective leadership in workforce education programs through readings, discussion, and analysis.
