Course Description
Through lectures and field-based experiences, students will learn the foundations of educational psychology research. Students will learn about practical research methods and engage in empirical projects related to assessment and intervention practice. The course will be valuable to students wishing to pursue graduate degrees in education and psychology.

Course Objectives
1. Students will read, interpret, and think critically about published research in the field of educational psychology. 2. Students will learn how to account for diversity in participant backgrounds when conducting research, including potential differences as a function of an individual’s culture. 3. Students will examine fundamentals of applied research methods, including data management, procedural fidelity, and statistical analysis. 4. Students will learn the fundamentals of designing and implementing applied research. 5. Students will gain an understanding of the ethical concerns involved in conducting research in the field of educational psychology. 6. Students will engage in professional service in the field of educational psychology and will learn how to explain their research to others in the field and to broader audiences.
