Course Objectives
This course essentially opens the students to exploration of the African concept of the Supreme Being as the creator and sustainer of the universe, as well as the origin of humanity and its relationship with the Supreme Being. At the end of the course, it is expected that the students, through engagements in classroom teaching, discussion and debate, essay writing and oral presentation, would have been familiar with the indigenous African beliefs in how the supreme Being created the Universe and humanity, how the creator and the created related at the beginning, the source of friction and separation and the search for reconciliation through the process of religious worship. The course should then have enhanced students’ appreciation of the universality of religious claims of God’s creative roles and the responses of humanity in shaping its destiny to tally with God’s original purpose for if, through religious dynamics.
