Course Objectives
This course allows students the opportunity to explore the basic beliefs of African Religion as distinctive beliefs, which demonstrate the uniqueness of the Religion and also show that they are comparable to the beliefs of other religious traditions. Through this exploration, the students will become familiar with the religious values embedded in the beliefs and can therefore appreciate the process and practices in ways which illuminate the significance of religious beliefs and practices in the overall life of Africans. Also, by process of engagement in classroom discussion, debate, essay writing and oral presentations, the students should have a broader perspective, understanding and appreciation of African religious beliefs, not only as expression of religious values outside their own backgrounds, but also as important dynamics in global religious views.
