Course Objectives

The objectives focus on understanding the production planning flow of broiler, turkey, and layer breeders as this impacts on many husbandry related health issues. At the conclusion of the course, veterinarians are expected to be proficient in understanding the management of breeder birds in the commercial poultry industry.

1. Breeder house management from pullet to end of production: Chick placement, brooding, rearing 2. Health issues that affect production - pullet and hen mortality surveys and how to interpret results 3. Production issues that affect health breeders and fertile eggs layer hens and table eggs
