Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to educate veterinarians regarding disease prevention by vaccination, preventive antibiotic and anticoccidial programs and their cost vs. benefit in terms of bird health and improved financial return. At the conclusion of the course, veterinarians are expected to be proficient in developing preventative medicine programs for commercial poultry operations.


Topical Outline

1. Vaccination programs will be discussed and written to prevent/control all major poultry viral and bacterial diseases 2. Shuttle rotation and other anticoccidial programs will be fully studied and understood 3. Use of antibiotic preventative programs for reduction of bacterial diseases
