Course Objectives

1. Students will learn Michel Foucault's place in French intellectual history 2. Students will learn Foucault's major analyses: power/knowledge reading, genealogy, archaeology, and care of the self 3. Students will learn the range of topics Foucault addressed in his work: discipline, madness, ethics, etc. 4. Students will learn how Foucault's work has been taken up and used by educators 5. Students will learn how to apply Foucaultian analyses to their own research projects
