Course Objectives
Development of a research project that may form the basis of a student's thesis or dissertation research, and/or a proposal to a funding agency Step-wise construction of a written research proposal with class presentations and discussions of each section Development of critical thinking skills by learning the principles of effective experimental design, scientific writing, and proposal writing

- Discussion of the content of a research proposal - Review of the principles of scientific writing - Ethical issues associated with research proposals and papers - Preparation of an experimental protocol and/or research plan - Class presentations and discussions of each section of the research proposal - Review of written proposals by major advisor and/or other experts for the topic, such as thesis/dissertation committee members
