Digital Printmaking


Course Description

The use of software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create imagery. Students will learn to print images on large format printers to make ink jet prints. Students will also combine digital printing with traditional printmaking methods. Technical mastery will be emphasized along with conceptual development.

Course Objectives

Students will learn Adobe software programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator to create visual images. Students will then learn how to control variables to print their images on large format printers. Once this is achieved, students will experiment in combining traditional printmaking techniques in conjunction with digital prints to expand and express their ideas. Students will research contemporary artists who use digital processes and present this work to the rest of the class. Weekly PowerPoint presentations by the professor will augment this research of contemporary artists. Students will leave the class with a cohesive body of prints which utilize digital printing and traditional printmaking. Students will have the option to expand to three-dimensional work as well as installation work as it relates to their concepts.
