Ballet IV


Course Description

Designed to further build the strength, flexibility, endurance, and control necessary for performance of advanced/pre-professional ballet barre exercises, adagio sequences, and allegro enchainments. Style, perfection, and performance quality will be emphasized.

  • By the end of this course, students will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of advanced classical ballet vocabulary.
  • By the end of this course, students will be able to present a sensitive personal interpretation of classical ballet movement.
  • By the end of this course, students will be able to demonstrate a mature interpretation of musicality and mood.
  • By the end of this course, students will be able to perform with fluidity in movement using contrasting dynamics.

Topical Outline

  • Execute barre exercises maintaining strength on pointe, and continue development of ballet technique skills.
  • Perform center exercises with skilled coordination and artistic movement quality.
  • Increase ballet vocabulary by adding more advanced steps and skills.
  • Explore theory of order, tempo, placement and musicality.
  • Practice class combinations correct and advanced-level ballet technique.
