Course Objectives

1. Students completing Latin prose will have read a substantial amount of Cicero and other prose authors in Latin. Classes will focus on strategies of translation, particularly for prose. 2. Students will engage in critical analysis of semantic, syntactic, grammatical, stylistic, rhetorical, and historical evidence. 3. Through frequent writing exercises, students will learn to produce writing appropriate to the subject matter of Latin prose and the field of classics.
