Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, students should be able to: Explain the five levels of determinants of health and their interrelated nature in the context of the socioecological framework and systems thinking Apply a health promotion planning model or framework to health behavior, disorder, or disease outcome Use Intervention Mapping to apply a theory in the program planning process Select appropriate Intervention Strategies for delivering program content Compare health literacy assessments for diverse audiences and health behaviors Identify common elements of a logic model and its organization Describe the process of writing SMART outcome objectives Contrast the interests and investments of diverse stakeholder groups in health promotion programs Identify the four P’s of marketing within a health communication campaign Select appropriate Intervention Strategies for delivering program content Discuss surface-level and deep-level cultural strategies for developing public health content Operationalize a deep-level cultural strategy for adapting a health promotion guideline Examine the influence of the media on health behaviors Organize evaluation frameworks by the level of community engagement Compare the types of evaluation data derived from quantitative versus qualitative approaches Discuss how planning frameworks inform program evaluation Select measures and appropriate analyses for outcome evaluation Identify qualitative approaches for evaluating public health programs Compare the benefits of experimental and quasi-experimental study designs
