Course Description

An introduction to the concepts and laws of physics, and how their applications can be used to understand the behavior of familiar phenomena and objects. Concepts are emphasized more than formulas and numbers.

Student learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to use the SI (metric) system to interpret physical quantities and to place them in the context of familiar values.
  • Students will be able to apply fundamental principles of physics to explain a variety of everyday phenomena, from motion of objects to energy flow to technology and communications.
  • Students will be able to interpret physical data and relationships presented using graphs, tables, diagrams, and other visualizations.
  • Students will develop curiosity in the science of the physical world and confidence in exploring scientific questions and their relationship to society.
