Introduction to International Workforce Education


Course Description

This course is designed for a study abroad experience to explore international workforce education in a specific country.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
The graduate student will submit a scholarly research paper on a model, issue, trend, or problem in an international educational school system. The graduate student will also submit a form of media (power point, pictures, video) accompanying the research paper.

Non-Traditional Format

This course is designed for a Study Abroad Program. Therefore, a majority of the time will be spent on tour rather than the traditional three hours of lecture.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: 1. Explore the history and evolution of workforce education in the country. 2. Identify and determine existing models of workforce education in the educational system of the country. 3. Develop an understanding of the models of workforce education as they exist in the country. 4. Describe and trace trends of workforce education preparation over a period of time in the educational system. 5. Distinguish among various issues in the educational system related to workforce education preparation. 6. Investigate and study the models, trends, and issues with an eye toward better understanding their impact for the citizens of the country and the workforce. 7. Compare and contrast the differences and similarities of workforce education in the educational system in the United States and the country. 8. Begin to develop an appreciation for the system of workforce in the country.
