Students will be able to familiarize and increase knowledge of concepts, principles, assumptions, and terms of the major conceptual systems and theories of counseling and student development theories.
Students will be able to provide an advanced overview of the major conceptual systems and theories of counseling and student developmental theories that underlie human behavior and change.
Students will be able to examine sociocultural (e.g., racial/ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status) and social justice perspectives in relation to the major conceptual systems and theories of counseling and student development.
Students will be able to increase one's understanding of and skill in making connections between various conceptual systems and theories of counseling and student development.
Students will be able to provide an examination of the relationship between theory and practice within the major conceptual systems and theories of counseling and student development, and to become familiar with theoretical applications in various settings.
Students will be able to help facilitate the process of developing a personal philosophy and theory of counseling and student development.
