Course Description
Students will learn the principles and methodology of Lean Six Sigma and apply them to a business project to earn the Green Belt designation.

Non-Traditional Format
This course will be used as a Directed Study. The first three days of the class will be lecture and the remainder of class time students will be applying what they have learned to real- world projects in local companies and by doing so achieve certification.

Course Objectives
The objective of the course is to train students in the topic of lean six sigma. Students will apply learning to real-world projects in local companies, and by doing so achieve certification in lean six sigma at the Green Belt level.
Topical Outline
•A three-day intense deep dive into lean six sigma is held in the first week of the school semester, and following classes are scheduled based on the instructor’s determination •Work with fellow students to form a team (usually 4-5 students) •Compete for the project that my team most wants to work on •Contact the company liaison for project to schedule a meeting with client •Work on project with the client throughout the semester •Meet regularly with the professor (Fridays) •Friday classes will cover key LSS topics and status reports on projects •Strategies to manage all the normal issues that any executive would have in corporate America, such as scope creep, slow decisions, road blocks •Project storyboards
