Course Objectives
This course is for entering graduate students. The purpose of this course is for students to become familiar with potential research projects available for their dissertation work. This course is taken during the first term in residence and with permission from the Graduate Affairs Committee, the course can be repeated.
Topical Outline
The student arranges to spend 5-7 weeks during the term as a member of the research group of two or three faculty members. These periods are referred to as "rotations." During each rotation the student is provided workspace in the lab, attends regular research group meetings. The student may also arrange with the faculty a mini-project to gain hands-on expereience. It is not based upon completion or acquisition of any specific experimental result.
