Course Objectives

To provide students with a broad knowledge base in biopharmaceutical principles that are essential in the drug development process. Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1) understand the essentials of thermodynamics, states of matter, and physicochemical properties of drugs and excipients as they relate to the pharmaceutical sciences. 2) Understand the principles of drug delivery,targeting, and application of biomaterials and nanotechnology in the development of novel drug delivery systems. 3) understand the physiological and cellular determinants to drug action.
