This is a mentored, directed study online course for veterinarians focusing on poultry medicine. Students will, with major professor input, select a disease problem to address in a poultry industry farm setting.

Course Objectives
This is an independent online study course designed to teach veterinarians how to develop a health diagnosis and treatment plan targeting their home country’s poultry husbandry practices. At the conclusion of the course, veterinarians are expected to be proficient in differentiating among the significant diseases of poultry and apply this knowledge to management of commercial poultry populations.
Topical Outline
With direction of the poultry health mentor, the veterinarian will: 1. Identify a disease situation (viral, fungal or bacterial) in their home country’s poultry farm/industry 2. Describe the situation and design a diagnosis and treatment plan for resolving the situation 3. Collect poultry health information relevant to the plan 4. Prepare project report to be included in final thesis
