Students will apply mathematics, science and engineering principles to solve a meaningful civil engineering design problem that involves meeting real-world needs while overcoming practical constraints.
Students will also be introduced to the requirements of the FE exam and made aware of career choices available to them.
Students will work on a service-learning project with requirements gathering, planning, and development of a product for an internal/external client.
Topical Outline
This course is designed to provide students with a complete engineering design experience, including problem definition, concept development and detailed design with an emphasis on overcoming real-world constraints.
The lecture component of the course will serve as a review for the FE exam and provide career counseling.
