Course Objectives
This course mainly provides students with an opportunity to apply mathematics, science and engineering principles to solve a meaningful civil engineering design problem that involves meeting real-world needs while overcoming practical constraints. Through this experience, students will understand the necessity of working in multidisciplinary teams and the importance of developing good communication skills.
Topical Outline
This course is designed to provide students with a complete engineering design experience, including problem definition, concept development and detailed design with an emphasis on overcoming real-world constraints. The lecture component of the course will expose students to (a) their professional and ethical responsibilities; (b) contemporary engineering issues; (c) the importance of lifelong learning; and (d) various career opportunities.
