Course Objectives

This doctoral practicum is designed as a semi-structured working group with a faculty member to support Adult Education students in various stages of their research process. The content of the sessions will be jointly determined based on students needs, with the overarching goals of helping to keep students dissertation research on track, ensure focus and consistency, and maintain quality of research and writing. In addition, this practicum aims to create a supportive environment and provide students with timely feedback on their works-in-progress.


Topical Outline

1. Students will make systematic progress with their individual dissertation projects by contracting with the instructor to complete specific doctoral program/dissertation-related task(s) during the semester. 2. Students will be better able to marshal knowledge of content and technical issues related to their respective studies. 3. Students will contribute to their own and others learning through listening and providing input, feedback, references, assistance, and support. 4. Students will be better able to articulate, summarize, and present their proposed or actual dissertation studies. 5. Students will develop their capacity to contribute to the knowledge base through professional presentations and writing.
