Statistical Methods for Researchers

Analytical Thinking
Critical Thinking

Course Description

Basic statistical methods through one- and two-sample inference, regression, correlation, one-way analysis of variance, analysis of covariance, and simple methods of categorical data analysis. Course emphasizes implementation and interpretation of statistical methods. Statistical software (SAS) is integrated into the course.

Athena Title

Statistical Methods Researcher

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students will identify and apply appropriate statistical methods to analyze data.
  • Students will use statistical software to perform traditional statistical analyses as well as simulations to explore and analyze data.
  • Students will present and interpret statistical results in a clear and accurate manner, effectively communicating their implications to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Students will evaluate the alignment between study design and the conclusions drawn on real-world decision-making.
  • Students will plan and implement a data analysis project using real data generated from an on-campus client.
