Georgia Choral Union


Course Description

The Georgia Choral Union is our university’s premier volunteer, community choir—comprised of students, faculty, staff, and community members—largely directed toward performing works for larger choral-orchestral forces.

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will be required to occasionally lead rehearsals and mentor undergraduates.

  • Students will demonstrate technical and musical skills required for successful performance in a choral ensemble.
  • Students will demonstrate knowledge of the selected repertoire in terms of performance practice, stylistic elements, and historical and cultural contexts.

Topical Outline

  • Concentration on choral literature for mixed voices from all periods of music history, including sacred, secular, folk, and popular music.
