An introduction to the world of teaching and learning online, including discussion of instructional strategies and current innovations and issues. From choosing and setting up course elements in a Learning Management System through the actual delivery and interactions of an online class.

Course Objectives
Students will be able to: -Establish teaching presence effectively during an online course, -Effectively plan and deliver content in such a way that allows the greatest opportunity for learning for each student involved in an online learning, -Effectively use student-centered instructional strategies towards active learning, interaction, and building community with diverse students, -Facilitate and evaluate online discussions, including discussions on CMS, blogs, wikis, etc., -Understand and use online learning communities and social networking to facilitate learning, -Present an online course or resource related to at least two different domains (science, writing, etc.), -Assess online students effectively, -Gather appropriate resources legally by understanding intellectual property, copyright law, fair use, the TEACH Act, and open educational resources, -Use mobile technology to enhance learning, -Identify benefits of various Web 2.0 tools and demonstrate proficiency in at least two such tools, -Identify and use effective strategies to promote student engagement, -Design activities that promote collaboration and engaged learning, -Understand how to use synchronous technology in an online class.
