Course Objectives
Through course readings, activities and discussions, and the creation and fulfillment of a personalized learning contract, students will learn how to: - analyze relevant literature on technological innovation in the workplace, especially in relation to broader workplace issues - develop familiarity with technological tools prevalent in different fields - define various types of professional settings and explain how technology can support the needs of diverse work environments; - identify problems and challenges in professional settings and determine technology's role in overcoming these barriers - select current technologies that support communication, collaboration, creativity, innovation, critical thinking, research, and problem solving in their own major fields; - create a professional presence using social media, mobile technologies, and other current technological tools; - make critical decisions about technology's role in their fields and show leadership in the use of technology in their professional lives; - develop products that enable/enhance work in their fields in the areas of communication/collaboration, creativity and innovation, and critical thinking/problem-solving.
