Course Description
Performance of post-1950 literature and commissioned works for small and large ensembles. Guided rehearsal time is limited. Major 20th- and 21st-century work will be presented each fall semester. The spring semester is a "lab" environment for composers, performers, and conductors as each prepares and performs commissioned works by UGA composers.
Additional Requirements for Graduate Students:
Graduate students will be required to occasionally lead
rehearsals and mentor undergraduates.

Course Objectives
The student will be able to: 1. Prepare and perform modern and commissioned ensemble repertoire at a professional level, including self-instruction of pitches and rhythms in and outside of rehearsals. 2. Demonstrate advanced and flexible instrumental and/or vocal technique and musicianship capable of meeting the stylistic and tibial requirements of modern music. 3. Demonstrate comprehensive (including historical) context of performed repertoire.
Topical Outline
Topics will include: 1. Professional-level artistic performance 2. Professional quality musicianship 3. Critique and analysis of selected repertoire 4. Self-critique of individual and ensemble rehearsals and performances
